Welcome to the exciting world of coaching within the Canadian skydiving system through the Coaching Association of Canada (CAC) and the National Coaching Certification Program (NCCP).
As a future Coach 1, you will play an essential role in developing novice skydivers and contributing to the future of sport skydiving in Canada. Coaching is both a responsibility and a privilege — and we hope you find this course to be a rewarding and inspiring experience.
As representatives of CSPA, you are expected to lead by example and foster an environment of safety, respect, and professionalism.

Understand the CSPA and NCCP coaching models
Develop foundational coaching and instructional skills
Learn how novice skydivers learn and process information
Practice delivering technical knowledge presentations
Develop structured observation and feedback skills
Demonstrate in-air evaluation abilities while flying with an evaluator simulating a novice skydiver
Analyze performance in real time and conduct effective post-jump debriefs
Apply ethical decision-making principles in skydiving scenarios
Demonstrate professionalism and leadership within a drop zone environment
Candidates must meet the following requirements:
Age of majority
Active CSPA B CoP
Observe the role of a Coach 1 at a drop zone
Willingness to learn and professionally represent skydiving
Completion of the NCCP Making Ethical Decisions (MED) module (must be completed by the end of the course)
Create a Locker account at coach.ca and complete the required Making Ethical Decisions online training (~$80)
Failure to meet prerequisites will result in removal from the course.
$400 Course Fee
$45 CSPA Administation Fee
Waived if completing the NCCP MED in advance
Share of travel costs/ accommodation (not required if hosted locally)
6 jump slots (3 evaluation jumps to 10,500') — payable to the DZ
A $200 non-refundable deposit is required to secure your spot.
Your spot is NOT secured unless your deposit is paid
Remaining balance is due two weeks before the course
Extra fees if charged by the DZ (packing, classroom fee etc.) This will be divided among the candidates.
The course runs for three full days.
Daily schedules depend on:
Drop zone logistics
Weather
Candidate progress
Effective time management
Expect flexibility. Some days may run late.
Time management is a critical coaching skill. You are expected to:
Arrive prepared and on time
Have equipment ready and parachutes packed
Complete waivers and DZ check-ins in advance
Use downtime productively (eating, lesson planning, preparing evaluations)
Assist with packing rigs when needed (teamwork is part of professionalism)
Bring your own food and plan accordingly.

Before attending, you must:

2.8 — Technical Knowledge Presentation
Submit your required video jump as outlined on the CSPA website.
You cannot complete the course without submitting the video jump. Candidates coach rating will be placed on hold until this is received.
During this course, you will be evaluated on your ability to perform as a Coach 1. This includes skydiving abilities, coaching abilities, presentation abilities and technical knowledge. In addition you will be assessed on attitude, willingness to learn, ability to follow directions and preparedness.
Courses may be conducted at various drop zones. The location must provide an appropriate and safe learning environment.
